Infrared IR sensor operation minimises cross contamination risks by eliminating the need for the operator to physically touch the scale when performing routine tasks, such as zeroing or taring the scale. Excellent milligram scale. Make sure you need its precision. For example a grain of rice weighs about 20 mg, so the scale will weigh a fraction of that. It comes with a plastic annulus to dampen fluctuations due to wind, works well if the scale is located away from draughts and you don't breathe too hard.
